MUSIC P & MARQUE AUREL – “THE WAVE” feat. Liah Barrett
Some collaborations are fleeting. Music P and Marque Aurel are not. Their creative alliance spans over 15 years, built in backrooms, forged on darkened dancefloors, and sharpened across countless sessions. “The Wave” is the latest result of that trust: a hypnotic, trippy Melodic House weapon, custom-built for late-night clubs and the disoriented beauty of the after hours.
Driving the track is a looping arp line – relentless, pulsing, and almost ritualistic – surrounded by a world of textured synths and shadowy tension. At the center floats Liah Barrett, a Brazilian-born, jazz-trained vocalist now based in the mountains of Tyrol. Her voice doesn’t just sit on the track, it threads through it, precise and haunted, like a memory you’re not sure is yours.
Music P launches into his Ibiza season with residencies and headline gigs at Playa Soleil, Tanit Beach Club, and Dunes, while Marque Aurel is laying deeper roots around Basel, having just finished building his new studio hideaway on the city’s edge. While the two operate in different spaces, their joint releases on Mellow Daze are a shared language, one that keeps evolving, getting deeper, darker, more refined.
“The Wave” doesn’t shout. It pulls. And once you’re in, you don’t come up for air until it’s over.
